After Terah was 70 years old, he had three sons: Abram, Nahor, and Haran, who became the father of Lot. Terah's sons were born in the city of Ur in Chaldea, and Haran died there before the death of his father. The following is the story of Terah's descendants.
Her husband is a prophet. Let her go back to him, and his prayers will save you from death. But if you don't return her, you and all your people will die.
and said, “I'm starving to death! Here and now give me some of that red stew!” That's how Esau got the name “Edom.”
Then Abimelech warned his people that anyone who even touched Isaac or Rebekah would be put to death.
and they stopped up the wells that Abraham's servants had dug before his death.
Rachel was at the point of death, and right before dying, she said, “I'll name him Benoni.” But Jacob called him Benjamin.
About three months later someone told Judah, “Your daughter-in-law Tamar has behaved like a prostitute, and now she's pregnant!” “Drag her out of town and burn her to death!” Judah shouted.
and had the cook put to death. Everything happened just as Joseph had said it would,
and everything happened just as he said it would. I got my job back, and the cook was put to death.
I have heard there is grain in Egypt. Go down and buy some, so we won't starve to death.”
But you must bring your youngest brother to me. Then I'll know that you are telling the truth, and you won't be put to death. Joseph's brothers agreed
Then Judah said to his father, “Let Benjamin go with me, and we will leave at once, so that none of us will starve to death.
I will take care of you there during the next five years of famine. But if you don't come, you and your family and your animals will starve to death.”
After the death of the king of Egypt, the Israelites still complained because they were forced to be slaves. They cried out for help,
“That's impossible!” Moses replied. “Any sacrifices we offer to the Lord our God would disgust the Egyptians, and they would stone us to death.
Then Moses prayed to the Lord , “What am I going to do with these people? They are about to stone me to death!”
either with stones or arrows, and no one must touch the body of the person being put to death in this way. Even an animal that touches this mountain must be put to death. You may go up the mountain only after a signal is given on the trumpet.
Death is the punishment for murder.
Death is the punishment for attacking your father or mother.
Death is the punishment for kidnapping. If you sell the person you kidnapped, or if you are caught with that person, the penalty is death.

Or (another similitude) is that of a rain-laden cloud from the sky: in it are zones of darkness, and thunder and lightning: they press their fingers in their ears to keep out the stunning thunder-clap, the while they are in terror of death. But Allah is ever round the rejecters of Faith!
Then We raised you up after your death: you had the chance to be grateful.
Say: ''If the last Home, with Allah, be for you specially, and not for anyone else, then you seek for death, if you are sincere.''
But they will never seek for death, on account of the (sins) which their hands have sent on before them. And Allah is well-acquainted with the wrong-doers.
Were you witnesses when Death appeared before Jacob? Behold, he said to his sons: ''What will you worship after me?'' They said: ''We shall worship your God (Allah) and the God (Allah) of your fathers, - of Abraham, Isma`il, and Isaac, - the One (True) God (Allah): to Him we bow (in Islam).''
It is prescribed, when death approaches any of you, if he leave any goods, that he make a bequest to parents and next of kin, according to reasonable usage; this is due from those who fear Allah.
Did you not turn your vision to those who abandoned their homes, though they were thousands (in number), for fear of death? Allah said to them: ''Die''! Then He restored them to life. For Allah is full of bounty to mankind, but most of them are ungrateful.
Have you not turned your vision to one who disputed with Abraham about his Lord, because Allah had granted him power? Abraham said: ''My Lord is He Who gives life and death.'' He said: ''I give life and death.'' Said Abraham: ''But it is Allah that causes the sun to rise from the East: do you then cause it to rise from the West.'' Thus was he confounded who (in arrogance) rejected Faith. Nor does Allah give guidance to a people unjust.
Or (take) the similitude of one who passed by a hamlet, all in ruins to its roofs. He said: ''Oh! how shall Allah bring it (ever) to life, after (this) its death?'' But Allah caused him to die for a hundred years, then raised him up (again). He said: ''How long did you tarry (thus)?'' He said: ''(Perhaps) a day or part of a day.'' He said: ''Nay, you have tarried thus a hundred years; but look at your food and your drink; they show no signs of age; and look at your donkey; and that We may make of you a Sign unto the people, look further at the bones, how We bring them together and clothe them with flesh.'' When this was shown clearly to him, he said: ''I know that Allah has power over all things.''
You did indeed wish for Death before you met him: now you have seen him with your own eyes, (and you flinch!)
After (the excitement) of the distress, He sent down calm on a band of you overcome with slumber, while another band was stirred to anxiety by their own feelings, moved by wrong suspicions of Allah - suspicions due to Ignorance. They said: ''What affair is this of our?'' You say: ''Indeed, this affair is wholly Allah's.'' They hide in their minds what they dare not reveal to you. They say (to themselves): ''If we had had anything to do with this affair, we should not have been in the slaughter here.'' Say: ''Even if you had remained in your homes, those for whom death was decreed would certainly have gone forth to the place of their death''; but (all this was) that Allah might test what is in your breasts and purge what is in your hearts. For Allah knows well the secrets of your hearts.
O you who believe! Be not like the Unbelievers, who say of their brethren, when they are travelling through the earth or engaged in fighting: ''If they had stayed with us, they would not have died, or been slain.'' This that Allah may make it a cause of sighs and regrets in their hearts. It is Allah that gives Life and Death, and Allah sees well all that you do.
(They are) the ones that say, (of their slain brethren), while they themselves sit (at ease): ''If only they had listened to us, they would not have been slain.'' Say: ''Avert death from your own selves, if you speak the truth.''
Every soul shall have a taste of death: and only on the Day of Judgment shall you be paid your full recompense. Only he who is saved far from the Fire and admitted to the Garden will have attained the object (of Life): for the life of this world is but goods and chattels of deception.
If any of your women are guilty of lewdness, take the evidence of four (reliable) witnesses from amongst you against them; and if they testify, confine them to houses until death do claim them, or Allah ordain for them some (other) way.
Of no effect is the repentance of those who continue to do evil, until Death faces one of them, and he says, ''Now have I repented indeed;'' nor of those who die rejecting Faith: for them We have prepared a punishment most grievous.
''Wherever you are, death will find you out, even if you are in towers built up strong and high!'' If some good befalls them, they say, ''This is from Allah''; but if evil, they say, ''This is from you (O Prophet).'' Say: ''All things are from Allah.'' But what has come to these people, that they fail to understand a single fact?
And there is none of the People of the Book but must believe in Him before his death; and on the Day of Judgment He will be a witness against them; -
Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine, and that on which the name of other than Allah has been invoked; that which has been killed by strangling, or by a violent blow, or by a headlong fall, or by being gored to death; that which has been (partly) eaten by a wild animal; unless you are able to slaughter it (in due form); that which is sacrificed on stone (alters); (forbidden) also is the division (of meat) by raffling with arrows: that is impiety. This day those who reject Faith have given up all hope of your religion: yet fear them not but fear Me. This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion. But if any is forced by hunger, with no inclination to transgression, Allah is indeed Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.
O you who believe! when death approaches any of you, (take) witnesses among yourselves when making bequests, - two just men of your own (brotherhood) or others from outside if you are journeying through the earth, and the chance of death befalls you (thus). If you doubt (their truth), detain them both after prayers, and let them both swear by Allah: ''We do not wish in this for any worldly gain, even though the (beneficiary) be our near relation: we shall not hide the evidence before Allah: if we do, then behold! the sin be upon us!''
