From the exile to the birth of Jesus, his ancestors were: Jehoiachin, Shealtiel, Zerubbabel, Abiud, Eliakim, Azor, Zadok, Achim; Eliud, Eleazar, Matthan, Jacob, and Joseph, the husband of Mary, the mother of Jesus, who is called the Messiah.
This is how Jesus Christ was born. A young woman named Mary was engaged to Joseph from King David's family. But before they were married, she learned that she was going to have a baby by God's Holy Spirit.
Joseph was a good man and did not want to embarrass Mary in front of everyone. So he decided to quietly call off the wedding.
While Joseph was thinking about this, an angel from the Lord appeared to him in a dream. The angel said, “Joseph, the baby that Mary will have is from the Holy Spirit. Go ahead and marry her.
After Joseph woke up, he and Mary were soon married, just as the Lord's angel had told him to do.
When the men went into the house and saw the child with Mary, his mother, they knelt down and worshiped him. They took out their gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh and gave them to him.
Isn't he the son of the carpenter? Isn't Mary his mother, and aren't James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas his brothers?
Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of James and John were some of these women.
All this time Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were sitting across from the tomb.
The Sabbath was over, and it was almost daybreak on Sunday when Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb.
Isn't he the carpenter, the son of Mary? Aren't James, Joseph, Judas, and Simon his brothers? Don't his sisters still live here in our town?” The people were upset because of what he was doing.
Some women were looking on from a distance. They and many others had come with Jesus to Jerusalem. But even before this they had been his followers and had helped him while he was in Galilee. Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of the younger James and of Joseph were two of these women. Salome was also one of them.
Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joseph were watching and saw where the body was placed.
After the Sabbath, Mary Magdalene, Salome, and Mary the mother of James bought some spices to put on Jesus' body.
Very early on the first day of the week, after Jesus had risen to life, he appeared to Mary Magdalene. Earlier he had forced seven demons out of her.
Even though they heard that Jesus was alive and that Mary had seen him, they still would not believe it.
with a message for a virgin named Mary. She was engaged to Joseph from the family of King David.
The angel greeted Mary and said, “You are truly blessed! The Lord is with you.”
Mary was confused by the angel's words and wondered what they meant.
Then the angel told Mary, “Don't be afraid! God is pleased with you,

We gave Moses the Book and followed him up with a succession of Messengers; We gave Jesus the son of Mary clear (Signs) and strengthened him with the holy spirit. Is it that whenever there comes to you a Messenger with what you yourselves do not desire, you are puffed up with pride? - some you called impostors, and others you slay!
Those Messengers We endowed with gifts, some above others: to one of them Allah spoke; others He raised to degrees (of honor); to Jesus the son of Mary We gave Clear (Signs), and strengthened him with the holy spirit. If Allah had so willed, succeeding generations would not have fought among each other, after Clear (Signs) had come to them, but they (chose) to wrangle, some believing and others rejecting. If Allah had so willed, they would not have fought each other; but Allah fulfillls His plan.
When she was delivered, she said: ''O my Lord! Behold! I am delivered of a female child!'' - and Allah knew best what she brought forth - ''And nowise is the male like the female. I have named her Mary, and I commend her and her offspring to Your protection from the Evil One, the Rejected.''
Right graciously did her Lord accept her: He made her grow in purity and beauty: she was assigned to the care of Zakariya. Every time that he entered (her) chamber to see her, he found her supplied with sustenance. He said: ''O Mary! Whence (comes) this to you?'' She said: ''From Allah: for Allah provides sustenance to whom He pleases, without measure.''
Behold! the angels said: ''O Mary! Allah has chosen you and purified you - chosen you above the women of all nations.
''O Mary! worship your Lord devoutly: prostrate yourself, and bow down (in prayer) with those who bow down.''
This is part of the tidings of the things unseen, which We reveal unto you (O Messenger!) by inspiration: you were not with them when they cast lots with arrows, as to which of them should be charged with the care of Mary: nor were you with them when they disputed (the point).
Behold! the angels said: ''O Mary! Allah gives you glad tidings of a Word from Him: his name will be Christ Jesus, the son of Mary, held in honor in this world and the Hereafter and of (the company of) those nearest to Allah;
That they rejected Faith; that they uttered against Mary a grave false charge;
That they said (in boast), ''We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah''; - but they did not kill him, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they did not kill him:-
O People of the Book! commit no excesses in your religion: nor say of Allah anything but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no more than) a Messenger of Allah, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a Spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in Allah and His Messengers. Do not say ''Trinity'': desist: it will be better for you: for Allah is One God: glory be to Him: (far Exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs.
In blasphemy indeed are those that say that God is Christ the son of Mary. Say: ''Who then has the least power against Allah, if His Will were to destroy Christ the son of Mary, his mother, and all - every one that is on the earth? For to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between. He creates what He pleases. For Allah has power over all things.''
And in their footsteps We sent Jesus the son of Mary, confirming the Law that had come before him: We sent him the Gospel: therein was guidance and light, and confirmation of the Law that had come before him: a guidance and an admonition to those who fear Allah.
They do blaspheme who say: ''God is Christ the son of Mary.'' But Christ said: ''O Children of Israel! worship God, my Lord and your Lord.'' Whoever joins other gods with Allah, - Allah will forbid him the Garden, and the Fire will be his abode. There will for the wrong-doers be no one to help.
Christ the son of Mary was no more than a Messenger; many were the Messengers that passed away before him. His mother was a woman of truth. They had both to eat their (daily) food. See how Allah makes His Signs clear to them; yet see in what ways they are deluded away from the truth!
Curses were pronounced on those among the Children of Israel who rejected Faith, by the tongue of David and of Jesus the son of Mary: because they disobeyed and persisted in Excesses.
Then will Allah say: ''O Jesus the son of Mary! recount My favor to you and to your mother. Behold! I strengthened you with the holy spirit, so that you spoke to the people in childhood and in maturity. Behold! I taught you the Book and Wisdom, the Law and the Gospel. And behold! you made out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, by My leave, and you breathed into it, and it became a bird by My leave, and you healed those born blind, and the lepers, by My leave. And behold! you brought forth the dead by My leave. And behold! I did restrain the Children of Israel from (violence to) you when you showed them the Clear Signs, and the unbelievers among them said: `This is nothing but evident magic.'
Behold! the Disciples said: ''O Jesus the son of Mary! can your Lord send down to us a Table set (with viands) from heaven?'' Jesus said: ''Fear Allah, if you have faith.''
Jesus the son of Mary said: ''O Allah our Lord! send us from heaven a Table set (with viands), that there may be for us - for the first and the last of us - a solemn festival and a Sign from You; and provide for our sustenance, for You are the best Sustainer (of our needs).''
And behold! Allah will say: ''O Jesus the son of Mary! Did you say to men, `worship me and my mother as gods in derogation of Allah'?'' He will say: ''Glory to You! Never could I say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, You would indeed have known it. You know what is in my heart, though I do not know what is in Yours. For You know in full all that is hidden.
