Joseph told them, “I would never punish all of you. Only the one who was caught with the cup will become my slave. The rest of you are free to go home to your father.” Then the men said, “We hope the Lord will punish both of you for making the king and his officials hate us. Now they even have an excuse to kill us.” Lord Then he said, “I am the Lord your God, and I cure your diseases. If you obey me by doing right and by following my laws and teachings, I won't punish you with the diseases I sent on the Egyptians.” Even though these leaders of Israel saw God, he did not punish them. So they ate and drank. Now take my people to the place I told you about, and my angel will lead you. But when the time comes, I will punish them for this sin.” I keep my promises to my people forever, but I also punish anyone who sins. When people sin, I punish them and their children, and also their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.” I will punish you terribly, and you will be ruined. You will be struck with incurable diseases and with fever that leads to blindness and depression. Your enemies will eat the crops you plant, Then, if you still refuse to obey me, I will punish you seven times for each of your sins, If you keep rebelling against me, I'll punish you seven times worse, just as your sins deserve! I'll remain your enemy and punish you even worse. War will break out because you broke our agreement, and if you escape to your walled cities, I'll punish you with horrible diseases, and you will be captured by your enemies. I'll really get furious and punish you terribly for your sins! he said to Moses, “Sir, please don't punish us for doing such a foolish thing. I will punish you severely every day for the next 40 years—one year for each day that the land was explored. But the two men bowed down and prayed, “Our God, you gave these people life. Why would you punish everyone here when only one man has sinned?” Follow these instructions, so I won't become angry and punish the Israelites ever again. Then Moses told the people, “The Lord wants to punish the Midianites. So tell our men to prepare for battle. Do not punish the woman at all; she has done nothing wrong, and certainly nothing deserving death. This crime is like murder, Pay them their wages at the end of each day, because they live in poverty and need the money to survive. If you don't pay them on time, they will complain about you to the Lord , and he will punish you. and the Lord will punish you from head to toe with boils that never heal.

''As to those who reject faith, I will punish them with terrible agony in this world and in the Hereafter, nor will they have anyone to help. Not for you, (but for Allah), is the decision: whether He turn in mercy to them, or punish them; for they are indeed wrong-doers'' If two men among you are guilty of lewdness, punish them both, if they repent and amend, leave them alone; for Allah is Oft-returning, Most Merciful. But to those who believe and do deeds of righteousness, He will give their (due) rewards, - and more, out of His bounty: but those who are disdainful and arrogant, He will punish with a grievous penalty; nor will they find, besides Allah, any to protect or help them. (Both) the Jews and the Christians say: ''We are sons of God, and His beloved.'' Say: ''Why then does He punish you for your sins? Nay, you are but men, - of the men He has created: He forgives whom He pleases, and He punishes whom He pleases: and to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between: and to Him is the final goal (of all).'' And this (He commands): you judge between them by what Allah has revealed, and follow not their vain desires, but beware of them lest they beguile you from any of that (teaching) which Allah has sent down to you. And if they turn away, be assured that for some of their crimes it is Allah's purpose to punish them. And truly most men are rebellious. Allah said: ''I will send it down to you: but if any of you after that resists faith, I will punish him with a penalty such as I have not inflicted on any one among all the peoples.'' ''If You punish them, they are Your servants: if You forgive them, You are the Exalted in power, the Wise.'' They say: ''What is in the wombs of such and such cattle is specially reserved (for food) for our men, and forbidden to our women; but if it is still-born, then all have shares therein. For their (false) attribution (of superstitions to Allah), He will soon punish them for He is full of wisdom and knowledge. To those who inherit the earth in succession to its (previous) possessors, is it not a guiding (lesson) that, if We so willed, We could punish them (too) for their sins, and seal up their hearts so that they could not hear? But what plea have they that Allah should not punish them, when they keep out (men) from the Sacred Mosque - and they are not its guardians? No men can be its guardians except the righteous; but most of them do not understand. Fight them, and Allah will punish them by your hands, cover them with shame, help you (to victory) over them, heal the breasts of Believers, Unless you go forth, He will punish you with a grievous penalty, and put others in your place; but Him you would not harm in the least. For Allah has power over all things. Let not their wealth nor their (following in) sons dazzle you: in reality Allah's Plan is to punish them with these things in this life, and that their souls may perish in their (very) denial of Allah. You do not make any excuses: you have rejected Faith after you had accepted it. If We pardon some of you, We will punish others amongst you, for that they are in sin. They swear by Allah that they said nothing (evil), but indeed they uttered blasphemy, and they did it after accepting Islam; and they meditated a plot which they were unable to carry out: this revenge of theirs was (their) only return for the bounty with which Allah and His Messenger had enriched them! If they repent, it will be best for them; but if they turn back (to their evil ways), Allah will punish them with a grievous penalty in this life and in the Hereafter: they shall have none on earth to protect or help them. Nor let their wealth nor their (following in) sons dazzle you: Allah's Plan is to punish them with these things in this world, and that their souls may perish in their (very) denial of Allah. Certain of the desert Arabs round about you are Hypocrites, as well as (desert Arabs) among the Medina folk: they are obstinate in hypocrisy: you do not know them: We know them: twice shall We punish them: and in addition they shall be sent to a grievous Penalty. There are (yet) others, held in suspense for the command of Allah, whether He will punish them, or turn in mercy to them: and Allah is All-Knowing, Wise. They said: ''The penalty should be that he in whose saddle-bag it is found, should be held (as bondman) to atone for the (crime). Thus it is we punish the wrong-doers!''
